Jennifer contacted me just over a week ago about getting together for a maternity mini-session. You see, Jennifer is already 38+ weeks and she’s going in tomorrow morning for an induction so we were in a bit of a time crunch. You know what’s super awesome about Jennifer? She’s a surrogate mommy and she’s carrying a sweet baby girl for another couple. Jennifer did this maternity session as a gift to the sweet little girl’s parents. See, I told you she is awesome.
I’ll be there to capture the details of her birth story and I can’t wait to share her slideshow with you…can’t wait! Be sure to check back soon for her sideshow.
For now, please enjoy a few sneak peeks from Jennifer’s mini-maternity mini-session. Enjoy!

A few weeks ago we celebrated Amelia’s 2nd birthday. Her birthday is of course a celebration of her birth, but it’s also a celebration of my life as a mother. I can say without a single bit of doubt that giving birth to our daughter was the single most amazing and life changing moment of my life. I never imagined all of the emotions I would feel at that moment. The pride I would feel for myself as a woman and what I had just done. The admiration I felt for my husband and the heartaches I knew he would experience with a little girl in his life. A love so intense for my daughter that it pained me; the love my own mother always had for me but she could never fully explain.
Those are the moments I want to capture. I want to capture your expressions as you anticipate you’re little one’s arrival, your emotions as you meet him/her for the first time and the love that instantly fills your heart. Those are the moments you’ll carry with you for the rest of your life.
I am so excited to announce that I am now offering birth photography collections. I want to capture your birth, your story. For a limited time I am offering a complimentary newborn session with all birth photography collection purchases. I will take a very limited number of bookings this year so please contact me soon for details!
Now for more good news…If you’re expecting a little one in January or February I will photograph your birth for free, yep you read that correctly for free! I will also provide a black and white slide show of your birth story on a disc which you will be able to enjoy for years to come. For a sample slide show please click here. If you want any prints or other products you’ll be able to order them through your private online gallery.
The only thing that I ask in return is that you clear everything with your doctor/hospital, that you get approval for me to be there and any guidelines you, your doctor or your hospital have regarding my presence. I will happily sit down and chat with you and your husband about what to expect from your birth story experience. Please contact me soon as I will only be able to take a few births during this time period.
I look forward to capturing these moments for you, for your husband and for your little one to cherish for years to come.
And because I hate to blog without sharing a picture, here’s a picture of Amelia’s little sister or brother due in early July.

Birth is the greatest miracle. Plain and simple, it just is. I have traveled and I have seen and photographed so many things, but nothing compares to photographing a birth.
When J&K asked me to photograph their daughter’s birth I was ecstatic; I wanted to jump up and down with excitement. I’m pretty high energy to start with…so I bet you can imagine how I would have been bouncing off of the walls if it had been appropriate. If I had chosen any other career path in life I would undoubtedly have been an L&D nurse. As Dustin put it, being a photographer I have the best of both worlds; I get to be creative, witness this miracle and I don’t have to get dirty.
It is the greatest miracle I have personally experienced and now witnessed. The strength of her mommy, her first breaths, her first cries…like I said, I witnessed a miracle.
Special thanks to Dr. Laura Davidson and the nurses and staff at Tomball Regional Medical Center. K&J – thank you, thank you, thank you!
So…the answer to the question “will you do it again?” is yes, in a heart beat. If you would like information regarding birth photography please email or call me any time, I’d love to hear from you!
